Central Valley is a regional facility owned by five special service districts:  Mt. Olympus Improvement District, Cottonwood Improvement District, Granger-Hunter Improvement District, Taylorsville-Bennion Improvement District, and Kearns Improvement District; and two cities:  Murray City and South Salt Lake.  Each entity owner has one elected official who sits on a Board of Trustees.  Management of the facility is performed by a dedicated staff of professionals trained in a variety of disciplines from plant process engineering, project engineering to finance and human resources professionals.

Information Technology

Information Technology (IT) is a critical component to the mission and success of CVWRF. Our mission is to deliver digital services, develop innovative and responsive solutions for business needs, and provide quality assurance and security for IT projects and services.
Providing technological support to every department enables each to achieve their goals in an efficient, cost effective manner. IT services encompass network hardware and software, process control and automation, data driven decision making, application and system support and training.

  • SCADA – HMI (Human Machine Interface) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) allows the plant operators to manage the treatment process efficiently and effectively.
  • CMMS – Our IT team is responsible for the implementation of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) which allows our facility to better track and monitor equipment performance and maintenance needs.

The Safety Department helps ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors. This is accomplished by ensuring that Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements are followed. CVWRF has three highly trained Safety Professionals who are tasked with the following types of activities to ensure a safe work environment:

  • New employee and contractor safety orientations.
  • Ongoing safety training of existing employees.
  • Managing all aspects of injury/illness prevention and reporting.
  • Conducting industrial hygiene surveys (i.e., noise, dust, air quality, etc.)
  • Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual inspections of safety systems and equipment such as fire extinguishers, chemical showers/eyewash stations, flammable and corrosive gas monitoring systems.
  • Issuing required permits and managing safety procedures for hazardous activities (i.e., confined space entry, welding/hot work).
  • Recommending, maintaining and replacing safety equipment.
